Our Founder's Legacy

Known for his values and leadership skills, late Mr. Bashiruddin Babukhan is a legend. He always stood for his strong principles and was an exemplary person.

Mr. Babukhan laid the foundations of world-class institutions, and influenced heads of state to change their mind-sets in educating society in all aspects. Through his four decades of active public and business life, the Founder Chairman of Springfields High School, Mr. Bashiruddin Babukhan successfully inspired entrepreneurs, educators and philanthropists with the clarity of his vision and the power of his determination.

He was the President of Hyderabad Educational Academy which then ran the Springfields Group of Schools, and Glendale Academy was the result of this aspiration – a desire to provide the ‘future leaders’ with a nurturing ground and an enriched learning environment to develop their all-round personality.

As Cabinet Minister twice, Mr. Bashiruddin Babukhan held portfolios of Higher Education, Major Industries and Tourism, and Minorities Welfare.

He was associated with many educational organizations and charitable trusts. He was the President of Khan Bahadur Babukhan Foundation Trust which contributes, in a big way, to scholarships scheme for poor and meritorious students, studying professional and technical Courses. The Trust also supports people with disabilities, through organizations like Deaf Enabled Foundation (earlier known as Deaf Way Foundation). Along with PRATHAM Foundation, the Sarwar Basheruddin Babukhan Trust also runs several learning centers in Hyderabad which cater to children who have not been to schools or have dropped out, or are going to school but barely learning in formal settings.

In 2013, Mr Babukhan published Living under the Rainbow: My Enchanted Life, an illuminating testimonial of his amazing and inspiring journey through life, depicting his childhood, his family, his years as a young adult, his associations and friendships with a range of important individuals and families in Hyderabad, his entry into politics and his deep involvement in the education sector. The book is written in a lively style and provides a candid account of significant events in Mr. Babukhan’s personal and professional life.
